School Delay Prompts Changes to Parks and Recreation Facilities and Programs

In order to assist parents during the two-week delay to the start of Moscow School District classes, the City of Moscow Parks and Recreation Department has made several adjustments to their facilities and programs beginning August 25, 2014.

In partnership with the Moscow United Soccer Club a new Soccer Camp for kids from 4 years old – 8th grade has been organized.  This camp, led by Moscow United's Director of Coaching Jason Quintero, will be held at Mountain View Park, Monday, August 25 through Friday, August 29.  The morning session will run from 9 a.m. to noon for 4 year olds – 3rd graders and the afternoon session will run from 1 to 4 p.m. for 4th – 8th graders.  Cost for residents is $75 per child, for non-residents is $76.  Register online at, or in person at the Hamilton Indoor Recreation Center during business hours.

Beginning Monday, August 25th, the Eggan Youth Center will be open from 3 – 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 2 – 6 p.m. on Fridays.  Youth attending 3rd grade and older are welcome to come to the Eggan to play games, learn new things, and hang out with friends old and new – all free of charge!  This program is supervised by City of Moscow Parks and Recreation staff.

In addition, the Hamilton-Lowe Aquatics Center (HLAC) has extended their season through Monday, September 1.  The HLAC will be open regular hours, noon – 7:30 pm Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday and Labor Day.  All 2014 Season Passes are valid for the extended season, however, the Fun Run will not be available and there are no additional Thursday Theme Nights scheduled.  The pool will also not be available for private party rentals.
