The Governmental Finance Officers Association has announced that the City of Moscow has been awarded the Certificate for Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 14th year running. The recognition is based on the recent review of the City's fiscal year 2016 Comprehensive Financial Report (CAFR), the official financial statements of the City of Moscow to show compliance with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) accounting requirements. At the end of each fiscal year the CAFR is completed in accordance with the Governmental Accounting Standards Board's (GASB) generally accepted accounting principles for state and local governments and under the review of an independent auditing firm. The City has been proud to partner with Presnell Gage for annual auditing services.
The City's CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which according to GFOA promotes the, "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate the City's financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR. All of the City's CAFRs can be found at http://www.ci.moscow.id.us/records-center/budget. The current budget year, 2017, will come to a close on September 30, 2017 at which time preparation will begin for the fiscal year 2017 CAFR.
