The City of Moscow (City) manages and maintains a public wastewater collection system in the University Heights that serves approximately 60 residences. The University Heights collection system is located in private property backyards and in one confirmed case, a pipeline runs under a residence. Most of the wastewater system components were installed during the 1950s with no written easements for the collection system, which poses concerns for service, operation, and maintenance. A review of some of the City's existing data has shown a significant number of pipe deficiencies, including sags, broken pipes, and disjointed segments. Due to the condition of the pipelines, the city is considering moving forward with a collection system improvement project in the future.
This project is currently in its preliminary stages and is still acquiring funding. Design on the project is currently scheduled to occur in 2025 with construction in 2026. However, these dates could be subject to change due to staff or financial resources as we get closer to that date.
