Moscow Arts Commission

Mission

The City of Moscow Arts Program’s mission is to enrich the community by celebrating and cultivating the expressions of all art forms and culture.

Values:

  • Recognize and promote artists' value by creating opportunities for work to be experienced.
  • Facilitate and promote the social, educational, and economic value of all art forms and culture in the community.
  • Provide leadership and act as a resource in the conversation of all art forms and culture with partner agencies, city leaders, and the community.

Member Structure & Organization

The Moscow Arts Commission consists of up to twelve voting members, serving without pay. Members are appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council. Not more than three members of the Commission may reside outside the City limits. The term of office of the Commission members is four years, or the remainder of a vacant term. Appointments are staggered to assure that the terms of not more than three members expire in any year. High school students may apply for the Commission as a non-voting member and serve a one-year term which may be renewed. One Council member serves as a nonvoting ex officio member of the Commission. The members of the Commission meet and organize by electing one of their members chairman and such other officers as may be necessary, every year, on the first regularly scheduled meeting after January 1. Additional information may be found in Moscow City Code Title 03, Chapter 04. To apply for the Commission please complete an application and email to Taylor or call 208-883-7080 for questions.
