Under the direction of the Public Works Department, the City of Moscow’s Water Distribution system delivers an average of over two million gallons of potable water per day. Our distribution system delivers safe, potable water to more than six thousand active points of service. Major components of the distribution system include three elevated tanks, five booster stations, pressure-reducing valves, over 100 miles of pipelines, 900 fire hydrants, over 2,600 valves and over 6000 water meters. Water Distribution Operators are in charge of maintaining and repairing the distribution system 24/7. This often requires Operators to respond to emergencies, such as water main leaks, at any time of day or night.
