In order to be effective and successful, the Comprehensive Plan must be a “living” and dynamic document. Community decision makers rely on the Plan, so periodic reviews and amendments must be made to keep it current.
Over the last 18 months, the Planning and Zoning Commission, with input and advice of other City Commissions, undertook a mid-term revision of the 2009 Comprehensive Plan to update statistics and other data. This update also recognizes the completion of the water, sanitary sewer and transportation plans, reflects completed implementation actions since the 2009 adoption, and incorporates additional information, goals and objectives related to changing global climate conditions. Their work is reflected in the Draft Chapters below.
The Moscow Planning and Zoning Commission hosted an open house on October 24th to allow the public an opportunity to learn more about the Comprehensive Plan update. A month-long public comment period followed, and the Commission would like to thank the many citizens who provided thoughtful and discerning input.
The next steps in the process include a public hearing before the Planning and Zoning Commission which is scheduled for January 23rd, 2019. If the Commission recommends approval at that time, it will move forward to another public hearing before the full City Council.
