December 16, 2019 (Moscow, Idaho) -- Currently, the Moscow Tree Commission has two (2) open positions. Applicants must reside within the City of Moscow. The Tree Commission meets the first Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the Mayors Conference Room located on the first floor of City Hall, 206 E Third Street.
The mission, or purpose, of the Moscow Tree Commission, is to plan, establish and help conduct a comprehensive community forestry program for the City of Moscow. By ensuring safe, healthy trees, the community forestry program will enhance the quality of life for all that live, work and visit the City of Moscow.
Under Moscow City Code, the Tree Commission has several duties and responsibilities. First, the Committee is responsible for providing advice to the Mayor and Council as to the preservation, protection and management of the community forest, in accordance with Moscow City Code. Second, the Committee is charged to hear appeals from license, certification or permit applicants who are aggrieved of some action taken pursuant to the procedures set forth in Moscow City Code Title V, Chapter 8. Finally, the Committee is responsible for developing and implementing educational materials and programs addressing community forestry issues.
