Voting is now open to participate in the 13th annual America’s Farmers Market Celebration, hosted by the American Farmland Trust and Farmers Market Coalition.
Moscow Farmers Market enthusiasts are invited to visit markets.farmland.org/market/moscow-farmers-market where they may endorse the Market by voting and leaving a review; both methods of participation put the Market in the running for national recognition and cash prizes.
The Farmers Market Celebration has been held online for 12 consecutive years, elevating the essential role farmers markets play in helping communities access local food and helping farmers connect directly with customers. The Moscow Farmers Market has consistently been ranked the number one Farmers Market in the state of Idaho for several years. In 2019, it was ranked third for Farmers Market in the Pacific Region. In 2020, the Moscow Farmers Market ranked 2nd in Idaho and 11th nationally.
This year’s celebration is set to run between June 21 and September 19 and is shaping up to be the most exciting event yet. The total prize money being offered to the winning markets in the “People’s Choice” category has tripled over last year, totaling $5,000 ($2,500 for 1st Place, $1,500 for 2nd Place, and $1,000 for 3rd). In addition to the prize money, the top markets also receive national recognition, complimentary American Farmland Trust and Farmers Market Coalition memberships, and special swag to show off.
“Our beloved Market has consistently ranked as one of the top 25 farmers market. Last year was the closest we have ever reached to claiming the Moscow Farmers Market as one of the top ten farmers markets nationwide. This year, our goal is to reclaim the number one in the state of Idaho ranking, maintain our status as one of the top three farmers markets in the Pacific region, and claim the number ten spot amongst all farmers markets in the U.S.! We believe our community of shoppers, patrons, vendors, musicians, and collaborators are just the ticket we need to get there,” said Amanda Argona, City of Moscow Community Events Manager.
