The City of Moscow will begin accepting Declaration of Candidacy forms for the 2021 General Election on Aug. 23, 2021. There are four positions open for election - 1 mayoral position and three city council positions. Each position is a four-year term to take office at the first City Council meeting of Jan. 2022.
Interested candidates must submit a Declaration of Candidacy form and be qualified as a City Elector. To qualify as a City Elector, an individual must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Their primary residence must be within the Moscow city limits
- Their voter registration address must match their residence address
- They must have resided in the city for at least 30 days before submitting their Declaration of Candidacy form
- They must be a registered voter within the city limits when the Declaration of Candidacy is filed
Declaration of Candidacy forms, which must be submitted in hardcopy as required by local and state statute, will be accepted from 8 a.m. on Mon., Aug. 23, 2021, through 5 p.m. on Fri., Sep. 3, 2021. Forms can be picked up at City Hall or found online https://www.ci.moscow.id.us/370/Election-Information.
Any candidate who raises or spends more than $500 must also meet campaign disclosure reporting requirements. Candidates must complete campaign reporting online at https://sos.idaho.gov/elections-division/campaign-finance-filing.
