[ARCHIVED] Light up the Season adds new component to festivities this year

PandRlogoblue

The City of Moscow invites businesses in the downtown corridor to enter into the DeLIGHTful Downtown decorating contest. This contest is a new feature to Light up the Season hosted by the City of Moscow Parks and Recreation Department which includes the Holiday Parade and Winter Wonderland Tree Lightning.

The concept for DeLIGHTful Downtown is born out of a desire to provide accessible opportunities for downtown business participation while also celebrating the spirit of sharing Main Street for community events.

Downtown businesses are welcome to register as contestants from Mon., Nov. 1 to Mon., Nov. 22 for a chance to receive the title of ‘Most DeLIGHTful Downtown Storefront’ and have their business name engraved on the traveling trophy.

To participate, businesses must first have a Submittable account. Submittable accounts are free and allow businesses to see a variety of arts and culture opportunities offered by the City. To create an account, visit https://moscowarts.submittable.com/signup. To register for DeLIGHTful Downtown, visit https://moscowarts.submittable.com.submit. Businesses that successfully complete registration will receive a confirmation notification.

As part of the contest, registered businesses agree to have their decorated storefront on display from Sat., Nov. 27 to Sat., Dec. 11.

A panel of guest judges will select four businesses as finalists for public voting, which will be open beginning 5 p.m. Mon., Dec. 6 to 10 p.m. Wed., Dec. 8. The finalist with the most votes will be announced the winner during the Holiday Parade on Thurs., Dec. 9. Judging criteria is based on:

  • Use of lights
  • Seasonal theme
  • Utilization of storefront
