[ARCHIVED] Police Officer

Police Officer

It's called having the heart of a public servant.   It means more than just going to work; it means loving what you do each and every day as you contribute to the good life, while living your best life.

Joining the City of Moscow as a Community Police Officer means you’ll have an exciting work environment, a stable career path with student loan forgiveness and promotional opportunities, an outstanding compensation and benefit package with predictable retirement, and a positive career image.

Situated in a scenic university town, Moscow enjoys a uniquely positive relationship with the community it serves.  The department prides itself on its team-based approach and positive law enforcement practices that result in our officers truly being embraced by our vibrant, active community.

Our goal is to help our employees live their best life, and ensuring that our officers are as comfortable and confident as possible on the job is one of the most important ways we can support that goal.  As such, we are committed to providing training, support, and mentoring for each and every officer throughout their career.  In addition, Moscow has great partnerships with other local law enforcement agencies and the local chapter of Fraternal Order of Police Palouse Lodge.  This commitment and these relationships provide a tremendous support system for officers and their families.

Our outreach extends beyond traffic stops and investigation.  Officers regularly have the opportunity to participate in positive community activities including our holiday-grant sponsored Shop with a Cop program, helping kids pick out holiday presents for their families or fitting free helmets for kiddos at the Officer Lee Newbill Safety Fair, or doing car seats checks and providing free car seats to those in need to make sure our smallest community members stay safe.  Chief Fry also hosts a regular Coffee with a Cop session talking one of one with community members.  We’re always open to new ideas on how to reach out to the community as well.
