Light up the Season made a light-filled and snowy return to the community after a year-long hiatus. Prior to the lighting of the Winter Wonderland Tree, Recreation Coordinator, Ty Ochoa announced Moscow Contemporary as claiming the title of The Most DeLIGHTful Downtown Storefront. Moscow Contemporary secured 32% of the over 750 votes from the community with their theme “Gay Holiday” and will have their business name engraved on the traveling trophy. Ampersand Oil and Vinegar Tap House submitted a Winter Wonderland theme capturing 29% of votes, Rebel Roots Salon submitted a Winter Wonderland theme capturing 24% of votes, and Café Artista submitted their A Café Artista Christmas theme capturing 16% of votes.
Mayor Lambert and Mayor-elect Bettge led the crowd in a countdown to the lighting of the Winter Wonderland Tree to officially start the Parade. As thirty floats promenaded on Main Street the categories for best floats were announced by local radio host Steve Shannon of ZFun 106:
- Best Youth entry went to St. Mary’s Parish School
- Best Business entry went to KG Maintenance
- Best Use of Lights entry went to Idaho Central Credit Union
- Best General entry went to Latah County Democrats
The winners of the Parade will receive a variety of gift certificates and donations from local businesses.
The City of Moscow thanks Avista Utilities, West Twin Tree Farm, Home & Harvest Magazine, staff, volunteers, and the community for gathering together for the 2021 Light up the Season event!
