The City of Moscow is looking for a highly motivated, positive person to join the Public Works Department as a Street Maintenance Apprentice, Journey, or Senior Maintenance Worker.

Applicants will perform duties in construction, maintenance, and repair of City streets, right-of-way vegetation, sign maintenance, hardscape, street lighting, and fiberoptic network maintenance. Duties also include assisting in the operation of a variety of equipment used in street and storm maintenance.
- Apprentice level is an entry level position that performs assigned duties under direct supervision.
- Journey level positions performs the full range of construction, maintenance, and repair duties in the Streets Division and operates the full range of equipment utilized in the trade.
- Senior level operators are more technically advanced and may serve in a lead capacity in their specific area or in other interdepartmental specialties as assigned, they may also serve as the responsible party on job sites as assigned.
Requirements also include a basic knowledge of maintenance procedures and practices. Operation and use of hand tools and equipment used in general maintenance work. Basic health and safety practices as well as basic reading, writing, math, and computer skills are required. Applicants must understand and follow oral and written instructions, maintain routine records, and work cooperatively with others.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience
- Graduation from high school or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
Special Requirements:
- Ability to achieve Valid Class A CDL (commercial driver’s license) with air brake endorsement or the ability to obtain within six months of hire
- Ability to complete Confined Space Entry Training
- Ability to complete Trench Safety Training
- Ability to complete OSHA Competent Person Training
- Ability to obtain Flagger Certification within 1 year of hire
- Ability to achieve Traffic Control Technician Certification to progress to Journey
- Ability to achieve Traffic Control Supervisor to progress to Senior
- Ability to achieve State of Idaho’s Road Scholar Diploma from the Idaho Local Highway Technical Assistance Council as Senior
