Basic Function

This position will be responsible to perform tasks to support the day-to-day operation of the Hamilton-Lowe Aquatics Center concession stand and main entrance collection of fees and charges. This full-time/part-time temporary summer position will assist other full-time temporary and part-time temporary concession staff and reports directly to the Concessions Manager on duty.

Essential Functions

  • Collect fees and charges related to daily registration at the swimming pool, give change, make receipts, and balance cash received with total of receipts issued at the end of the work shift.
  • Receive patrons and visitors requesting information concerning pool hours and fees, answering questions when possible.
  • Logs patron counts in computer or equivalent record.
  • Prepare food and beverage items in accordance to law and policy.
  • Keep the concession stand and/or ticket booth in a clean and presentable condition.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to all emergency situations.
  • To report fully all accidents/concerns involving any aspect of the facility.
  • Answer phones, take messages, and serve as central communication area for staff members.
  • Take complete inventory of concession food and beverages making sure to report any discrepancy to the manager on duty.
  • Maintain money and inventory control.
  • Complete concessionaire training/in-services.
  • Perform maintenance duties that involve facility and grounds cleaning
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Licenses and Certifications

  • In house food server’s training
  • Foodservice, cash handling or equivalent experience highly desirable.



 Health and sanitation guidelines

  • Basic math skills
  • Functions of a cash register and calculator or ability to learn
  • Cash handling skills
  • Basic sanitation and biohazard cleaning techniques or the ability to learn.


  • Prepare food and beverage items in accordance to law and policy
  • Interact with general public
  • Enforce regulations in a fair, impartial, and polite manner
  • Deal with staff and public in a professional, team oriented manner
  • Anticipate and prevent accidents
  • Work cooperatively with others

Education and Experience: 

  •  Foodservice, cash handling or equivalent experience highly desirable.

Work Environment

  • Indoor, open aired environment.  Although the normal working conditions consist of being in a sheltered area, there is exposure to moderate discomforts and unpleasantness and extreme temperatures, hot and cold.
  • Working varied hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Exposure to noise of varied extremes.
  • Exposure to dissatisfied or abusive individuals
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures, hot and cold.
  • Exposure to electrical equipment
  • Exposure to moving and sharp equipment
  • Exposure to cold
  • Exposure to cleaning materials and chemicals
  • Exposure to body fluids
  • Exposure to distressed, non-swimming, and ill people
  • Exposure to pool-related chemicals (Chlorine, Soda Ash, Acids)

Physical Demands

  • Climbing
  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Lifting heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds
  • Walking
  • Reaching overhead and above shoulders
  • Kneeling or crouching
  • Hearing and speaking to communicate information
  • Seeing to monitor activities
  • Sensing hot and cold
