Infiltration and Inflow (I & I) occurs when ground water and storm water enters the City collections system through root intrusions, faulty service connections, and other leak related issues. I & I problems are worsened by rain and flooding events. This increase on the system results in an additional burden for the City of Moscow Water Reclamation & Reuse Facility (WRRF). In order to effectively address I & I problems, the entire collections system needs to be sealed, which includes manholes, sewer mains, and individual building services.
In 2019 the focus will be on sealing manholes and testing multiple products for their effectiveness. The majority of construction can be performed using small equipment, which will result in minimal disruption to the travelling public.
This project is expected to begin mid-June 2019 and be complete by September 2019.
