Jazz Hands

Move to the music with Jazz Hands! Beginning February 7 and running through April 3, this Third Street Gallery exhibition will feature graphic design and illustration artworks that reflect the experience of music.

The artist reception at Moscow City Hall will be Wednesday, February 19 from 5-7 p.m. The evening will feature Contact Jams, a dance and music improvisation by performing artists from the University of Idaho's DancersDrummersDreamers, starting at 6 p.m. The reception is open to the public free of charge and will include refreshments provided by Bloom.

February is a month of musical celebration in Moscow, Idaho, as student and professional performers take the stage at the University of Idaho's Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival.

Exuberant appreciation for music takes many forms, and in dance, enthusiasm often travels down the length of the arms to cheerful jazz hands. At once spontaneous, campy, choreographed, and time-honored, jazz hands embody the joy of moving to music.

In the Third Street Gallery's exhibition Jazz Hands, artists echo that celebration in works that reflect the hand's response to the call of music. Graphic design and illustration dance to the rhythm and flow of the song.
