Join the Moscow Historic Preservation Commission



February 10, 2020 (Moscow, Idaho) -- The Moscow Historic Preservation Commission invites those interested in the protection of historically important sites and buildings to apply for one of the five open positions on the nine-member Commission. 

The Commission typically meets monthly on the 4th Thursday at 4:30 pm in City Hall. To learn more about the Commission's ongoing and previous projects, visit https://www.ci.moscow.id.us/431/Historic-Preservation-Commission.
 
The mission of the Moscow Historic Preservation Commission is to promote the educational, cultural, economic and general welfare of the public of the City through the preservation, protection, and adaptive use of buildings, sites, monuments, structures, and areas of historic importance or interest within the City; to protect and preserve the heritage of the City by preserving and regulating historic landmarks, properties, and districts which reflect the elements of the City's cultural, social, economic, political, archaeological, and architectural history; to preserve and enhance the environmental quality of the City's neighborhoods; to establish and improve property values; and to foster economic development.

Those interested in volunteering are required to complete and return the Application for Appointment available on the Commission's web page or at City Hall. Successful applicants will be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council to fill a three-year term of appointment. Members of the Commission must be residents of Latah or Whitman Counties with a demonstrated interest in the historical and architectural development of the City. Citizens who represent fields such as Archaeology, Architectural History, Architecture, Engineering, History, Landscape Architecture, Law, and Urban Planning are highly encouraged to apply.  Meetings are open to the public and can be attended as such before applying.
