City of Moscow Calls for Art

Event Postponements

The City of Moscow Arts Department has postponed three of its programs: Artwalk, the Third Street Gallery, and Entertainment in the Park. These programs have long histories and will continue to enrich Moscow with arts and culture for many years to come. Cultural traditions such as these are essential to Moscow's identity, but stopping the spread of the novel coronavirus is currently the City's top priority. Once the threat to the physical health of the community has passed, the public is invited to the following celebrations of arts and culture:

The Third Street Gallery inside Moscow City Hall closed in mid-March to facilitate the need for social distancing. The Gallery will re-open in August 2020 with an exhibition by the Artwalk 2020 poster artist; an announcement about that artist is forthcoming. Silver & Gold, an exhibition of University of Idaho Art + Design Alumni artworks, was originally scheduled to begin in April 2020 but has now been postponed until the spring of 2021.

Entertainment in the Park will return to Moscow's East City Park on Thursdays in June 2021.

Artwalk will be held on Sept. 25, 2020 from 4-8 p.m. Artists, host locations, food vendors, and attendees are sure to have a variety of questions regarding this change to the event, which traditionally takes place in June. City Arts Staff will reach out to its constituents with information specific to individual circumstances related to planning, booking, and registration options.

Artwalk host locations, artists, food vendors, and attendees are sure to have a variety of questions regarding this change. Here are some FAQs regarding the scheduling adjustment:

"When is the new registration deadline for Artwalk?"

The registration period for Artwalk host locations, food vendors, and art demonstrators has been extended until July 31, 2020. Complete any of these registrations by visiting: https://moscowarts.submittable.com/submit

"I've already registered to participate in or sponsor Artwalk, but the new date doesn't work for my schedule and/or my business has fallen on hard times due to a mandatory closure. Are refunds available?"

Refunds are available for anyone who has registered or submitted a sponsorship but is not able to participate in Artwalk on September 25. Those who would like a refund may contact City Arts Staff at: mcherry@ci.moscow.id.us

"What will happen if September comes and it's still not safe to gather in groups?"

The City of Moscow will always prioritize the health and safety of its citizens. We recognize that the arts are at the heart of Moscow's identity, but we will make all plans according to CDC guidelines for public health.

As always, the aim of the City of Moscow Arts Department is to serve the community with high-quality arts programming. We're sad to postpone some of Moscow's favorite events, but eager to connect with everyone at Artwalk on September 25.

Stay home and stay safe -- we'll see you in September!

The mission of the Moscow Arts Commission is to enrich the community by celebrating and cultivating the expression of all art forms and culture.
