Additional Cougar Sightings Reported in Moscow

June 12, 2020 (Moscow, Idaho) -- The Moscow Police Department has received additional reports from citizens who have spotted a cougar within the City of Moscow. Two sightings occurred on the 400 block of N. Lincoln St. at approximately 10:30 p.m. on June 11. An additional sighting was reported by a citizen walking on the path behind Good Samaritan Village at 7:52 a.m. on June 12.

MPD is working with Idaho Fish and Game in response to the reports, but so far has not been able to locate the animal despite an immediate response by officers after each report.  MPD continues to recommend that the public maintain heightened awareness of surroundings while officials work to confirm the presence of a cougar in town.

Anyone who sees the cougar should not physically approach or verbally engage the animal.  Members of the public who believe they have seen the cougar should call 911 or 208.882.COPS immediately.  Additionally, anyone who captures an image or video of the animal on a security camera or video doorbell is asked to provide the media to the Moscow Police Department.
