July 11, 2020 (Moscow, Idaho) -- The Moscow Farmers Market continues its tradition ofconnecting local vendors with the community on Main Street and Friendship Square. The public is welcome to shop for fresh, perishable, agricultural products and shelf-stable food items offered by a select number of vendors as part of the Moscow Farmers Market's modified operations in response to COVID-19. The Moscow Farmers Market occurs every Sat., Jun. through Oct., 8 am to 1 pm.
Per the Public Health Emergency Order issued by Mayor Lambert on Jun. 30 and effective Jul. 2, individuals in the city of Moscow must wear face coverings that cover their nose and mouth when in an any indoor or outdoor public setting where the six-foot distancing is not able to be maintained with non-household members. This includes patrons accessing and entering the Moscow Farmers Market. The Order in its entirety may be accessed via the City of Moscow website at https://www.ci.moscow.id.us/DocumentCenter/View/20377/Mayor-Lambert-Public-Health-Emergency-Order-20-03. Moscow City Council affirmed this Order on Jul. 6, which remains in effect until Aug. 4.
Help staff and vendors keep the Market open by abiding by the following guidelines:
1. Do not enter the Market if you are sick.
2. Wear a cloth face covering prior to entering and while shopping the Moscow Farmers Market. Children under the age of five and patrons with medical conditions, mental health conditions, or disabilities that prevent wearing a face covering are exempt.
3. The hours of 8:00 am to 9:00 am are reserved for at-risk patrons to shop (at-risk is defined by the CDC as older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions). If you are not in an at-risk population, please attend the Moscow Farmers Market after 9:00 am.
4. Observe the Market's six-foot social distancing cues while shopping and waiting in line. Look for the brightly-colored dots in the Market footprint to maintain a six-foot distance between yourself and others while waiting in line.
5. Shop efficiently:
- Make a list and check it twice
- Send one household member to shop when possible
- Limit interactions with other patrons and vendors
6. Do not touch vendor products and allow vendors to handle and bag your purchase. Patrons bringing their own reusable bags must bag their own products. Please wash reusable bags prior to bringing to Market.
7. Observe proper hand hygiene. Wash/sanitize hands frequently by using the handwashing and hand sanitizer stations throughout the Market.
8. Use contactless mobile payment applications when available to minimize contact.
9. Sampling is currently prohibited by vendors and on-site consumption of food is discouraged. Please wait to enjoy your edible items in your vehicle or in the comfort of your home.
These guidelines will be posted at each Market entrance. Guidelines will update and adapt to the changing needs of the Moscow Farmers Market and the phased re-opening as outlined in the Idaho Rebounds Plan. Failure of patrons to social distance may result in the Moscow Farmers Market being shut down for the 2020 season.
