October 29, 2020 (Moscow, Idaho) -- The City of Moscow and Moscow Volunteer Fire Department are hosting a drive-thru food drive in support of The Idaho Foodbank on Sat., Oct. 31, 8 am to 1 pm.
Individuals interested in donating may drop-off donations at one of two locations in Moscow: the City Hall parking lot (enter from Jefferson St., closest to 3rd St.) or Moscow Volunteer Fire Station #2 on White Avenue. This Saturday is the final day to receive donations for the annual Idaho Foodbank Feed the Need campaign.
Bring your non-perishable food donations to either location. Volunteers will be on-site to gather donations. All collected food will be donated to The Idaho Foodbank partner agencies in Moscow. Non-perishable food items in high demand right now are:- Proteins - Canned meats, fish, peanut butter, and nuts
- Fruits & Vegetables - Canned 100% fruit or vegetable juices
- Grains - Whole grain cereals, pasta, rice, and oatmeal
- Dairy - Boxed, canned, or dehydrated shelf-stable
"The holidays can be a time of joy and merriment with friends and loved ones. However, this year many of our neighbors are still dealing with the challenges brought on by the pandemic: unemployment, reduced work hours, hybrid school schedules, and social isolation," said Mike Wigen, North Central Branch Manager of The Idaho Foodbank. "Regardless of the reasons, the demand for food assistance increases significantly during the holidays. That is why we are extremely grateful to the partners and the public for participating in this annual campaign."### Story Contact: Pam Rogers, EMS Coordinator Phone: 208-883-7163 Email: progers@ci.moscow.id.us
