March 17, 2021 (Moscow, Idaho) — The Moscow Police Department is providing a firearms safety course for individuals involved in the accidental discharge of a weapon within Moscow's city limits. This course is not open to the public.
A certified firearms instructor will join Moscow Police Officer Kris Bragg in teaching the course. The three-hour class will teach proper safety protocols and gun handling and operation techniques for handling a firearm, including proper unloading, loading, cleaning, carrying techniques, and City of Moscow and State of Idaho firearm laws. Successful completion of the course will provide individuals the opportunity to have a previous accidental discharge of weapon charge reduced or dismissed. Upon completion, individuals will be required to show their proficiency in handling a firearm and pass a written exam covering the course topics. Each case will be reviewed by the City of Moscow's Legal Department to determine eligibility.
