Fall is in Fashion at the Market Cooler mornings punctuated by sunshine and clouds (and maybe even a little rain!) are in-season at the Moscow Farmers Market, along with plums, pears, mittens, hats, and more!
While our Market felt a little funky this season, staff is very much looking forward to a return of full amenities for 2022.
Until then, we look forward to the crisper weather and change in products for the month of October.

A look back at the 2021 Season so far...While our Moscow Farmers Market may not have fully mirrored previous seasons, we certainly felt the joy from residents and visitors who chose to make the Market part of their weekend activities. Here are staff's highlights from this season: - Welcoming musicians and performers back for 2.5 months of live entertainment, including a performance by Nez Perce Tourism!
- Throwing the ultimate Veggie Shimmy Dance Party in honor of National Farmers Market Week and giving away over $1,200 in prizes donated by our Vendors.
- Hosting a direct marketing venue for over 100 small growers, producers, artisans, and chefs.
- Providing the opportunity for almost 20 Youth Vendors to hone their business skills.
- Working with five Performance Artists (Buskers) to create a vibrant atmosphere for all.

Recipe of the Season: Apple Crisp!Nothing says fall like an apple crisp hot out of the oven. And the Market is going to have an abundance in the coming weeks! What better use for them than a delicious and warm dessert as the chill starts to hover in the Palouse air. This would also be enhanced with a caramel drizzle, chopped nuts in the crumble, or a la mode.
Here is Martha Stewart's Apple Crisp!
Ingredients: - 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
- 1/4 cup packed light-brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup plus 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 stick unsalted butter, cold, cut into small cubes
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (not quick-cooking)
- 3 lbs Market apples of choice from a variety of Vendors
- 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. 2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, brown sugar, salt, and 2 tablespoons granulated sugar. 3. Cut butter into flour, using a pastry blender or two knives, until mixture is the texture of coarse meal. 4. Add oats, and use your hands to toss and squeeze mixture until large, moist clumps form. 5. Transfer to freezer to chill while you prepare apples. 6. In another large bowl, toss apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar. 7. Transfer to a shallow 2-quart baking dish, and sprinkle with topping mixture. 8. Place baking dish on a rimmed baking sheet, and bake until golden and bubbling, 55 to 65 minutes. 9. Let cool 10 minutes before serving. 10. Enjoy!
