April is National Poetry Month, and we have plenty of reasons to celebrate here in Moscow, Idaho. This region is rich in literary artists, and we celebrate them all. We’re also THRILLED to be hosting our very first real, in-person event with Moscow Poet Laureate, Stacy Boe Miller.
Join us for the April Poetry Relay on Thursday, April 28 at 6 p.m. at the Council Chambers inside Moscow City Hall.
Stacy Boe Miller, now in the first of three years as Moscow Poet Laureate, leads the community in celebration of National Poetry Month with this event. She will be joined in presenting readings by Joely Fitch, CMarie Fuhrman, Cameron McGill, and Cameron McLeod Martin. Admission is open to all, free-of-charge, and attendees are also welcome to enjoy refreshments made by Goose House Bakery, Moscow Brewing Company, and Colter’s Creek Winery.
The Moscow Poet Laureate Program increases awareness of the role that poetry and literature play in the community and creates a record of Moscow’s distinctive character. Not only does the program support the work of excellent poets in the city, but it also invests the public spaces of the city with the beauty of language. Along with offering readings and workshops, the Poet Laureate writes poems for the City that are reflective of local landscapes, social situations, or important events.
While you’re waiting for the April Poetry Relay on 4/28, celebrate poetry by…….
- Reading a poem by a writer you’ve just discovered!
- Reciting a poem that you know by heart!
- Writing a poem to share with your friends on social media!
- Hosting an open mic night for your friends, family, and pets!
The mission of the Moscow Arts Commission is to enrich the community by celebrating and cultivating the expression of all art forms and culture.
