Welcome to the 2018 Season of the Moscow Farmers Market

Spring has sprung, flowers are booming, and the starts have started; it's another exciting year of the Moscow Farmers Market. This season we are presenting some new features to Market including: a new format for the Newsletter, increased youth programming, and increased accessibility for way finding and product search within Market. Throughout the season our Newsletter will feature highlights on our farmers, crafters, foodies, vendors, products, and much more. 

Our Newsletter is now a monthly edition and is in a new format (available digitally and paper copies upon request). Programming this season will now feature Sustainable art projects and bike education with continued nutrition and science activities. We are excited to launch the Farmers Market Coalition's, Power of Produce (POP) Club. See details in the Market Events section below. 

We are excited to continue live performances in Friendship Square as well as monthly chef demonstrations. See more details in the Market Entertainment section below.

Market kicks off this Saturday, May 5th starting at 8:00 a.m. We are looking forward to seeing everyone downtown. 

Market Events

We have a full schedule of programming events at the Market this season! Each week is something different, but rest assured, it will be educational and FUN! Programming is held between 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Friendship Square. This month we will be hosting: 

Recycled Art Project - Saturday, May 5th 

The Moscow Farmers Market kicks off the season with a recycling art project, taught by Kelli Cooper, Sustainability Intern at the City of Moscow Water Department. Join us from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Friendship Square where kids will have the opportunity to get creative and make postcards from cardboard and other recycled materials provided by Moscow Recycling. Clothes that can get dirty are advised and parents must be present throughout the duration of the activity. 

Environmental Education 10:00 am - 12:00 pm every 1st Saturday!

Safe Routes to School Bike Education - Saturday May 12th

Come join Safe Routes to School to learn more about BIKES from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Friendship Square! This month, we will be giving tips on how to get you and your bike ready for a fun and safe biking season! Lessons will occur every 10 minutes and parents are required to be present throughout the duration of the activity. 

Bike Education held every second Saturday from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.

POP Club - Kickoff! - Saturday, May 19th 

POP Club, or Power of Produce Club, is NEW to the Market this season! Come join the fun to taste test a tasty smoothie (say that 5 times in a row!) brought to you by the Moscow Food Co-op's blender bike! We'll be whipping up banana smoothies for the kids to try and learn about healthy food choices from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in Friendship Square! Arrive early as the first 20 participants will receive $5 dollars in POP Bucks to purchase fresh fruit, produce or food producing plants at the Market! Parents are required to be present throughout the duration of the activity.

Chefs at the Market - Saturday, May 26th 

Chefs at the Market features local chefs and restaurateurs teaching their techniques using fresh Market ingredients. Join us on the last Saturday of each month at 9:30 a.m. to see what’s cooking!

Market Entertainment

We have another terrific lineup for this season’s performance series! Join us each week at 9:30 and 11 a.m. in Friendship Square for some of the finest music and entertainment on the Palouse. This month we will be hosting:

This year, the UI Composers program is putting on a series of “Open Score” events, where everyone reads off the same page. This is open to any players and instruments that are available, so dust off your tuba and join the fun!

Chad Bramlet

Chad Bramlet is a recording country music singer/songwriter who sings about his struggle and victories over homelessness, addiction, heartbreak, love, and despair. Chad has opened for country music acts such as Thomas Rhett, Chris Young, Randy Houser, Rodney Atkins, Craig Campbell, Trick Pony, and Lonestar.

This four-person a capella group performs English, Scottish and Nova Scotian shanties and sea songs. 

L.A. and the Earthquakes

May 12, 11:00 A.M.

L.A. and The Earthquakes is an energetic cover band playing timeless Rock 'n' Roll, Blues, Soul, Funk, and R&B hits. They cover tunes from a wide array of genres and decades that are both chart topping hits and aren't covered by all the other bands around.

This year’s dance theme is CIRCUS! Led by primary instructor Shelly Werner, these young dancers put on a colorful, spirited, creative, vibrant, and exciting show.

Blue Funk Jailbreak

May 19, 11:00 A.M.

This blues/funk/rock/soul/reggae band plays in the style of “live jam,” meaning their shows are spontaneous and feature extensive improvisations. Every show is a unique experience!

Local chefs offer cooking demonstrations where they will cook, share, and sample their favorite recipes using fresh market ingredients. Join us on the last Saturday of each month so see what’s on the menu!

Saticoy features the Saunders siblings, who have been performing and recording folk music together for the past decade.
