Moscow Police Department Warns of Counterfeit Bills
July 9, 2018 (Moscow, Idaho) -- The Moscow Police Department (MPD) has received several reports of fraudulent bills being used in Moscow this summer. Please be aware and cautious of any suspicious looking money. MPD suggests using a counterfeit bill pen which can be purchased locally. If you are given a counterfeit bill or suspect a bill to be counterfeit, please call the police department immediately.
Those accepting money should:
- Be wary of large denomination bills not issued by a bank.
- Check the bills for strange markings such as red/orange Chinese print or stamp.
- Check the texture of the bill, they are typically on regular poor quality paper and do not have the same feel and texture as real US currency.
For more information or to report fraudulent or counterfeit bills call 208-882-COPS.
