September 14, 2018 (Moscow, Idaho) — Beginning
Monday, September 17, 2018, roadway improvements will begin on Mountain View Road from E. Sixth Street to Joseph Street. These improvements will required closing Mountain View Road from Joseph Street to Sixth Street. Periodic lane and road closures will be necessary while work is being performed. Citizens are asked to be aware of detours set up near these locations. Detour routes have been developed and can be found on the
City’s website under 2018 City Construction Updates. Construction is anticipated to be completed by
Wednesday, September 19, 2018.
Improvements to this section of Mountain View will consist of an asphalt grind and inlay. During this process the road surface is milled to a smooth plane, removing the existing asphalt to a depth of approximately 2.5 inches. New asphalt is then applied, providing a sealed road surface. This method is intended to repair roads with severely damaged surface layers while allowing the City to keep the structurally sound base layer. A grind and inlay project is done for a fraction of the price of a full road rebuild but still results in a smooth road surface and increased roadway life.
