Fond Market Memories

As a local, I’m proud that Moscow is home to the number one farmers market in the state of Idaho. Moscow has been my home since I was eight years old when my family relocated from New Mexico. Some of my fondest memories from childhood are of going to the Moscow Farmers Market. For me, going to the Market conjures up images of preserving food. As a young girl, I would pick a delicious cinnamon roll to eat while my Mom purchased green beans for canning. Canning days in our household were a family affair. We would watch movies to pass the time while snapping green beans. Afterwards, it was all hands on deck to fill the mason jars, add the salt and boiling water, then sit back and watch the pressure gauge. My favorite part was listening for the small popping sounds the jar lids made, indicating that all had gone well. Plus, there was the added bonus of eating the best green beans from the best farmers market all year long!
