REAPING THE REMAINING HARVEST

With autumn's arrival on the Palouse, the time to get cozy has never been so evident. Savory soups, hearty stews, and delicious roasts are all on the menu for eating local and in-season. Stock up your kitchen pantry by canning the fall harvest yourself, or buying jams, jellies, pickles, and preserves. Dust off your knitting needles for winter projects with locally purchased fiber. And don't forget about the abundance of handmade, quality crafted items waiting to be purchased and gifted for special occasions (or just because!).

As the month of October continues and the Moscow Farmers Market comes to an end, now is the time to thank one of our 130+ vendors for making our Market one of the top-rated in the country. Check out our Market's standings from the American Farmland Trust Farmers Market Celebration:

  • Ranked #1 for the state of Idaho
  • Ranked #3 for the Pacific Region
  • Ranked #20 in the Nation
Thank you for allowing the Community Events Division to be a steward of our beloved Moscow Farmers Market!

That's a Wrap! POP Club 2019

Thank you to everyone for making this season's POP Club so fun and successful! The goal of this market program is to encourage kids to try healthy, fresh produce while empowering them to make their own food choices at the market, and we think it did just that. Don't take our word for it, check out the data below:

  • Held POP Club once a month in June, July, August, and September.
  • Distributed a total of 173, $5 POP Club Buck vouchers to be spent on fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • 74% of distributed vouchers were used to buy fresh produce. That's $640 that was reimbursed to our vendors, which is also supporting a healthy, local food economy.
  • In total, 141 children between the ages of 4 and 12 participated in the program. Of those children, 22% were return participants attending at least two or more POP Clubs.
  • Initial analysis of post-tasting surveys indicates that POP Club increased awareness of the vegetable being tasted and increased the kid's willingness to eat the vegetable again!

Thank you to our community partners, the Moscow Food Co-op and Eat Smart Idaho, for supporting this season's POP Club activities. We also want to thank our fresh produce vendors for supplying our program with in-season products.

We look forward to bringing POP Club back to the Moscow Farmers Market next year for some more fun adventures with healthy, local produce.
