June 28, 2019 (Moscow, Idaho) — From July 1 through July 7, the Moscow Police Department will be teaming up with the Idaho Transportation Department Office of Highway Safety in an Impaired Driving Mobilization. During this "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" mobilization there will be extra patrols on the roads looking for impaired drivers.
Additionally, during the July 4th Independence Day Holiday, drivers are urged to designate a sober driver before heading out for the evening and for those who plan on drinking, to also plan on not driving.
Remember these tips for a safe night on the roads:
- It is never okay to drink and drive. Even if you’ve had only one alcoholic beverage, designate a sober driver or plan to use public transportation or a ride sharing service to get home safely.
- Download the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s SaferRide mobile app, which allows users to call a taxi or a predetermined friend, and identifies the user’s location so he or she can be picked up. This application is available on Apple’s iTunes Store for iOS devices. At this time, this application is not available on Google Play for Android devices.
- If you see a drunk driver on the road, call 911.
Have a friend who is about to drink and drive? Take the keys away and make arrangements to get your friend home safely. This Fourth of July, commit to only driving 100-percent sober. Don’t lose your independence on Independence Day, and don’t be a deadly risk to yourself and other innocent people. Remember: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.
