Working Drawings at the Third Street Gallery Inside Moscow City Hall

July 25, 2019 (Moscow, Idaho) —  The Third Street Gallery exhibition entitled Working Drawings features works by artist George Wray, University of Idaho College of Art + Architecture professor emeritus. Wray taught painting and drawing to university art students for over 30 years, and his own work has included sculpture, neon, installation, and drawing. He has a particular enthusiasm for drawing outdoors.

The exhibition begins August 8 and runs through September 30. The public is invited to the artist reception at Moscow City Hall on Wednesday, September 18 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with refreshments and no-host bar provided by Bloom. The evening will feature an artist discussion panel Inhabiting the Creative Process beginning at 6 p.m.

Drawing is a process artists use to become acquainted with a place, an object, a figure, or an invisible curiosity. It is an initial exploration of the terrain and a way of understanding the world. While the preliminary drawing may function as preparation for a work in another medium, sometimes the drawing is a complete work in its own right.

Whether finished or preparatory, the drawing is a record of the artist’s initial greeting of the subject matter – it tells the story of an artist seeing the world through drawing.

Third Street Gallery is located on the second and third floors of Moscow City Hall at 206 East Third Street in Moscow, ID. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Gallery will be closed Monday, September 2 in observance of Labor Day.
