City of Moscow to Host Fair Housing Workshop

September 12, 2019 (Moscow, Idaho) -- The City of Moscow, in conjunction with the Intermountain Fair Housing Council and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, is hosting a FREE Fair Housing workshop on September 18th from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. The training will be held in the Great Room at the Moscow 1912 Center located at 412 East Third Street.

Topics to be addressed include the basics of the Fair Housing Act, its history, who is protected, and which housing providers are covered by the law. Intermountain Fair Housing Council will share the latest discussion on reasonable accommodations and service animals; eligibility requirements including criminal background, income requirements, and credit; and hate, harassment, and discrimination based on national origin, race, sex (sexual orientation and gender identity) and religion. A Housing Provider Attorney will discuss best practices for housing providers when addressing fair housing issues from application to termination. The Intermountain Fair Housing Council will share innovative ideas for addressing barriers to affordable workforce housing and everything in between.

The workshop is open to the public and will prove to be especially beneficial to consumers, housing providers and managers, realtors, lenders, housing advocates, and government personnel and officials. Presenters include Intermountain Fair Housing Council and other community members.
