Wood & Word at the Third Street Gallery

October 16, 2019 (Moscow, Idaho) -- Third Street Gallery is pleased to host a reception for Wood & Word on Wednesday, October 30 from 5-7 p.m. with poetry readings beginning at 5:30 p.m. The event is open to the public free of charge and will feature a no-host bar and refreshments.

Exhibiting artworks by regional artists, Wood & Word is a portrait of two communities entwined, as poets and woodworkers embark on collaborative explorations of words and wood. Both media have utilitarian purposes, but this exhibition invites the viewer to step over the boundary of practical function, to experience the world by way of feeling.

Woodworkers use their tools and sensibilities to reveal a beauty that surpasses simple utility. Whatever object they may construct, the wood artist seeks the forest's poetry of soil, sun, and water.

Poets, likewise, use the magnetic resonance of words to pull back the curtain on a world beyond language. In this exhibition, they sing the song of the trees.
